Dr. Satsuki Ina will share her personal journey as a survivor of the WWII mass incarceration of Japanese Americans and her efforts to bring an understanding of trauma to support healing in her community.
In her memoir, The Poet and the Silk Girl, Satsuki Ina recovers the story of how her parents survived and resisted their incarceration in U.S. concentration camps during WWII. &nbsp;Drawing from diary entries, heart-wrenching haiku, censored letters, government documents, and clandestine messages, Ina shares the eyewitness dispatches of her newlywed parents Shizuko and Itaru Ina. &nbsp;Their words, interwoven with the upheaval of war and Ina’s own retrospective reflection, present an intimate view into the experiences of those whose lives were upended, by reason of race alone, by Executive Order 9066, a presidential edict that dispossessed an entire generation of Japanese people, including U.S. citizens, of their homes and livelihoods.

The Family Music Hour was created by Michael McQuilkin as a way to foster and continue the rich tradition of music in the San Geronimo Valley. The show is now in its FOURTEENTH year and continues to delight sold out crowds. All levels of performers are embraced and elevated by The Family Music Hour Band, creating an unforgettable experience.

The San Geronimo Valley Community Center is thrilled to announce the 4th Annual Valley Car Show, rolling into a brand-new location this year! Join us on Saturday, July 18, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the Woodacre Improvement Club for a full day of classic cars, community spirit, live music, and family fun.
This year’s show promises something for everyone. Enjoy live music from Wreckless Strangers, sip local craft beer from Fairfax Brew Co., and wines from JD Ranch and Vineyards. Delicious food vendors will be on site, along with Silver Shave Ice, a Family &amp; Kids Activity Zone, and more festivities throughout the day.
Car enthusiasts can look forward to an impressive lineup of vehicles competing for Sponsor Choice Awards, selected by our event sponsors, as well as the coveted Valley Community–Voted Best in Show Award.
