Cleanup Finished on Lucas Valley Road Paint Spill
The paint spill occurred last Thursday, when a big-rig carrying eight 250-gallon plastic containers of paint overturned.

Cleanup work required after a truck overturned last week and spilled 300 gallons of yellow paint on Lucas Valley Road has been completed today, according to the Marin County Department of Public Works. The paint spill occurred last Thursday, when a big-rig carrying eight 250-gallon plastic containers of paint overturned.
Some of the paint containers ruptured when they fell into a ravine and spilled yellow paint into a creek, according to the California Highway Patrol. The big-rig driver was uninjured.
The difficult terrain in the area slowed the completion of the cleanup and prompted intermittent closures between Westgate Drive and Skywalker Ranch Road. But after a two-hour closure today to finish clearing the material, the California Department of Fish and Wildlife signed off on a final inspection and the road reopened as of about 1 p.m., county officials said.
