Olympic mountain bike team member and multiple US national champion Todd Wells invites cyclists to join him when he makes a rare Bay Area appearance for the second edition of the Bay Area's annual fundraising ride, The Dirt Roll, to be held on Sunday, February 6th, 2011. Todd Wells said “I'd like to see a lot of cyclists come out and ride with me; we'll have a blast! I’m excited to be in the Bay Area for this!”
Cross-country mountain biker Lea Davison will also be riding, as well as other local drop-in cycling celebrities. Last year Ned Overend, Gary Fisher, Jacquie Phelan and Otis Guy joined the ride.
The Dirt Roll is produced by the (MCBC) and The Northern California High School Cycling League (NorCal). It is a benefit ride attended by a host of mountain bike pioneers and cycling enthusiasts with an interest in ensuring that kids have safer roads and great trails to ride. Proceeds from the Dirt Roll support the ongoing advocacy work being conducted by both organizations.

Ride groups are arranged according to ability level, so there will be a ride for everyone. All rides start at the San Geronimo Golf Course west of Fairfax at 10:00 (they roll out at 10:30 sharp). The rides, which are supported, traverse the pride of the Bay Area mountain bike trails: Camp Tamarancho; or for road riders, the splendor of the bucolic Marin backroads awaits. Both rides return to the San Geronimo Golf Course for a warm shower, delicious lunch and awards ceremony with great prizes. Then it's time to watch the big game on a big screen!
Fundraising for the ride is encouraged, and the most successful among the fundraisers will receive some pretty impressive gifts. A fundraising minimum of $125 for adults and $75 for youth (18 and under) is required to join the ride.
