Vivaldi at San Domenico

Sunday, October 21, 3:00 pm
Carol Franc Buck Hall of the Arts

The Virtuoso Program's 35th year opens with a nod to the tradition of Vivaldi at San Domenico and a salute to the future of our promising young musicians, honoring the unparalleled contributions of VP founder Faith France.

We open with Vivaldi's Concerto in G minor, RV145, with our players in a creative configuration that will have you hearing music from different angles!  Four movements from Vivaldi's Gloria with members of the Middle School Chorus, San Domenico Singers and Virtuoso Program alumni recall our rich history of celebratory collaboration.  Special guest conductor and Marin Symphony Music Director Alasdair Neale leads the charming and agreeable Elgar Serenade.  Elena Kim, '14, solos on the fiery and expressive Zigeunerweisen by Pablo de Sarasate.  We end with the last two movements of Tchaikovsky's urgent and passionate Serenade for Strings.
