Fairfax Election Results 2019: Voters Approve Measure F

Fairfax voters headed to the polls Tuesday to decide on a council contest and a local tax measure.​​

FAIRFAX, CA — Fairfax voters headed to the polls Tuesday to decide on a council contest and a local tax measure.

Three candidates were on the ballot for two seats on the Fairfax Town Council.

Incumbent Renee Goddard, 54, a sustainability educator, and Cindy Swift, 66, a retired program manager, were elected to the town council, according to complete unofficial results released by Marin County Tuesday night. Third-place finisher Stephanie Hellman, 48, a nonprofit coordinator, trailed Swift by 24 votes.

Fairfax voters approved Measure F, an 11-year extension of a tax for police and fire services, according to complete unofficial results.

The tax will raise approximately $711,000 to $912,000 annually.

The money will keep the police station open 24/7, maintain and enhance fire services and wildfire prevention efforts, fund public works/safety projects, and maintain senior and youth programs.

The measure needed two-thirds approval and received 79 percent.

  • Yes: 1,167 (79.12%)
  • No: 308 (20.88%)
