Fairfax Teen Arrested For Allegedly Stealing Car, Possessing Gun

FAIRFAX, CA – The Central Marin Police Authority arrested a Fairfax teen Sunday on suspicion of stealing a vehicle from the Redwood High School parking lot in Larkspur earlier this month.

A teen driver of a 2014 Volvo found her car's rear window smashed and two backpacks missing from the vehicle on Sept. 13, police said. One of the backpacks contained a key fob to a nearby 2002 Honda Civic, which was missing from the school parking lot.

The backpacks were found the next day in the gutter on Riviera Circle. Private security cameras showed the stolen Honda and an older model Chevrolet Camaro pulling up, the occupants dumping the backpacks and then a male and female leaving in both cars, police said.

Fairfax police found the stolen Honda parked in front of a Fairxfax residence on Sept. 24. Fairfax police and Central Marin Police Authority officers contacted a woman in the house who said her 17-year-old daughter came home with a Honda and she was also in possession of a loaded handgun, police said.

The girl's mother retrieved the handgun and gave the officers permission to speak to her daughter, police said. The teen produced the keys to the Honda and she was booked in Juvenile Hall for possession of a stolen
vehicle, being a minor in possession of a handgun and conspiracy, police said.
