How Real is the Science in The Martian?

Assessing the Opportunities and Problems in Planetary Exploration. A talk by Dr. Michael Wing.

Dr. Wing will discuss the science in The Martian, what’s plausible and what’s not, and share information about his experiences in Mars analog environments. Dr. Wing teaches at Sir Francis Drake High School and has participated in NASA’s Haughton Mars Project on Devon Island, and NASA’s Spaceward Bound expeditions to the Mojave Desert, Namibia, the United Arab Emirates, and the Himalayas to study hidden life in extreme environments as Mars “analogs.”
