Man Arrested For Auto Burglaries At Point Reyes National Seashore

MARIN COUNTY, CA — National Park Service rangers arrested a man over the weekend on suspicion of committing multiple smash-and-grab auto break-ins at Point Reyes National Seashore in Marin County.

A ranger identified a man and a vehicle that matched the suspect description around 5 p.m. Saturdayon Shoreline Highway south of Olema, Point Reyes National Seashore spokeswoman Jennifer Stock said.

The Marin County Sheriff's Department assisted with the arrest, which came after several weeks of investigation, Stock said. The man's name was being withheld pending formal charges of auto burglary, vandalism and the use of stolen credit cards.

There have been nearly two dozen vehicle burglaries in Point Reyes National Seashore in 2019, Stock said.

Officials reminded park visitors not to leave valuables in vehicles and to report suspicious activity to nearby rangers or at the visitor center.
