18-Year-Old Killed In Crash With Semi-Truck On Shoreline Highway

Ricardo DeSantiago​, 18, of Marshall, was killed in a crash involving a semi-truck on Shoreline Highway in unincorporated Marin County.

MARIN COUNTY, CA – The Marin County coroner's office has identified the man who died Monday in a crash involving a semi-truck on Shoreline Highway as Ricardo DeSantiago, 18, of Marshall.

DeSantiago was in a Honda Prelude coupe traveling south near 18863 Shoreline Highway in Marshall, an unincorporated community in Marin County, around 4:40 p.m. when the vehicle reportedly collided with a semi-truck truck traveling north, according to the coroner's office.

Emergency personnel rescued DeSantiago from the front passenger seat of the car, but he was pronounced dead shortly after at the scene. Another person was injured in the crash and taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital.

The cause and manner of the victim's death were pending a post mortem examination, toxicology results and the conclusion of an investigation by the California Highway Patrol.

"The Marin County Sheriff's Office and personnel of the Coroner Division extend our condolences to Mr. DeSantiago’s family and friends during this difficult time," said Roger G. Fielding, chief deputy coroner with the Marin County Sheriff's Office.
