The driver used a receipt for a pound of teriyaki chicken wings to cover the first two digits of his license plates, CHP officials said.

MARIN COUNTY, CA – The California Highway Patrol impounded a vehicle Tuesday evening after discovering the driver was covering both of his license plates with a receipt from Safeway.

The suspect was pulled over just before 8 p.m. on southbound Highway 101 north of Sir Francis Drake Boulevard when an officer noticed the white Ford Mustang with a partially obstructed license plate. The area is near the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge, where motorists sometimes cover license plates to avoid tolls, according to the California Highway Patrol's Marin office.

The driver in this incident reportedly used a receipt for a pound of teriyaki chicken wings purchased earlier in the day to cover the first two digits of his license plates, CHP officials said.
