Marin Co. Robbery Suspect Found Heading South On I-5
Police located the 25-year-old man by tracking the GPS in his rental car.

SAN RAFAEL, CA - An Oakland parolee wanted in connection with a robbery in San Rafael was arrested this week driving south on Interstate 5, according to law enforcement.
The San Rafael Police Department responded on Tuesday to a robbery that just occurred on Convent Court in the Dominican Area of San Rafael. A citizen told investigators he saw a gold Kia driving away erratically from the area and also provided license plate details, police said
Detectives determined the car, a 2015 gold Kia Optima, was rented by a parolee from Oakland, and there was "probable cause" details that led officers to believe this vehicle and the occupant were involved in the robbery on Convent, police said. A statewide alert was issued for the vehicle and the suspect, Corey Lyn Barnett, 25.

GPS coordinates obtained for the rental car placed it traveling south on I-5 in Kern County, police said. The area's California Highway Patrol office was contacted and at 1 p.m. caught up with the vehicle and arrested the suspect, police said.
SRPD Detective Corporals James Bellamy and Ryan Cogbill drove to Kern County to take custody of Barnett, returned him to Marin County and booked him in jail.
