Missing Hiker Found In Marin's Cascade Canyon

The woman became separated from her hiking partner Sunday afternoon.

MARIN COUNTY, CA – A missing hiker was found safe early Monday after an hours-long search in the Pine Mountain area of Marin County.

Around 8:30 p.m. Sunday, rangers from the Marin Municipal Water District requested help from the Marin Sheriff's Search and Rescue Team to find a missing hiker. The woman, who became separated from her hiking partner Sunday afternoon, had last been seen near Carson Falls above Kent Lake, according to officials.

A group of search and rescuers with two K-9 teams searched the area. Ross Valley Fire Department also supported the effort.

"Around midnight Marin County Fire B1511 heard a distant voice call in the upper Cascade Creek area from the top of a ridge," officials with the Marin Sheriff's SAR Team said on social media.

Search and rescuers found the hiker on a lesser-used trail in a remote area of upper Cascade Canyon. She was cold, but otherwise healthy, according to officials.

"We were very happy with the positive outcome and resolving it before the next storm system moved in," officials said.
