More Than 8,000 Electric Customers in Bay Area Without Power Due to Storm

BAY AREA, CA – As storm conditions persist throughout the Bay Area Tuesday evening, PG&E officials are working with utility companies from other areas to help them restore power to thousands of customers in the region.

As of 4:10 p.m., more than 8,100 customers in the Bay Area are without power, according to PG&E spokeswoman Hailey Wilson.

The East Bay is experiencing the most outages, with 3,911 customers being affected, Wilson said.

In the Peninsula, 2,416 customers are without power.

In the North Bay 890 customers have been affected, followed by 850 customers in the South Bay and only 129 customers in San Francisco, according to Wilson.

In order to resolve the outages faster, PG&E is receiving assistance from other utilities companies from areas such as Tacoma, Washington, and Eugene, Oregon, as well as Lodi, Redding and Southern California among other places, Wilson said.

However, as crews attempt to assess damage and restore service, they're anticipating more outages as more rain and gusty winds are headed toward the Bay Area through Wednesday morning.

PG&E is reminding residents who see downed wires to always assume they are live and potentially dangerous and to call 911.
