Multiple Agencies Searching for Camper Missing from Angel Island

Marin County Sheriff's Office officials said Wouter Van Lier was last seen around 1 a.m. Monday morning on his boat.

First responders were looking for a missing camper in the vicinity of Angel Island, off the coast of Tiburon, on Monday night, according to the Marin County Sheriff’s Office.

Wouter Van Lier is described as a white man with brown hair and blue eyes, standing 6 feet tall and weighing 190 pounds. Van Lier was last seen around 1 a.m. Monday morning on his boat, which is moored at Angel Island.

Coast Guard officials said they deployed a helicopter to assist in the search. Other agencies involved in the evening’s search included Marin County Search and Rescue, Tiburon police, and the South Marin Fire Protection District, according to sheriff’s deputies.
