Nancy Nichols Exhibits Paintings at Marin Coffee Roasters Sponsored by SAAC

Enjoy a coffee while viewing beautiful paintings made with coffee!

San Anselmo local, Nancy Nichols has been living and expressing herself artistically in the area for 25 years as well as being an avid coffee drinker for the past 50. Nichols notes. “I love to drink coffee and I also love pencil drawing. By using coffee to paint over my original pencil drawings, I have found the perfect blend.”

In her exhibition The Art of Coffee, Nichols creates layers between the coffee and pencil, building depth and richness. Her coffee palette ranges from dark espresso to light washes with various blends of house coffee. In addition to coffee-color and traditional watercolors, Nancy creates mixed-media assemblages and collages.

“I like to find the hidden beauty in the ‘ordinary’. Unexpected visual motifs come from the everyday objects around me. A hammer can be rendered as a handsome portrait. My imagination searches for new perspectives in familiar surroundings”.
