New Town Manager Tapped for Appointment at Next San Anselmo Town Council Meeting

David Donery, who is being considered for the job, currently serves as assistant town manager and director of community services.

SAN ANSELMO, CA – The San Anselmo Town Council is considering the appointment of David Donery as the next town manager at the Dec. 13 town council meeting.

Donery currently serves as assistant town manager and director of community services. He would replace Debra Stutsman, who is retiring in February after 27 years with San Anselmo.

“I am humbled and honored to be considered for this position,” Donery said in a press release from the town. “San Anselmo is a wonderful town with an involved and engaged community. I look forward to working with the council, town staff, residents and business owners to make our town the best it can be.”

Donery was selected by the town council following a community survey that asked more than 240 community members to rate the top professional and personal traits most desired in the town’s next manager.

Donery has worked for San Anselmo since 2009, after spending 20 years with the city of San Rafael in a variety of positions, including supervisor of the Pickleweed Park Community Center and Library.

Donery, who holds a bachelor’s degree in recreation administration from San Francisco State University, started his recreation career in San Anselmo in 1977 as a counselor-in-training at the summer camp at Robson Harrington Park. Having grown up in San Anselmo, he now lives in the town with his wife and two children.

“We are pleased to have someone with Dave’s professional capabilities to take the reins as our town manager,” Mayor Ford Greene said. “It is a bonus that he is a resident who already knows and loves our town.”

Donery’s base salary would be $181,092 and benefits commensurate with other town management employees.
