Night Paving Scheduled on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard

Here is what San Anselmo residents need to know about the work schedule.

SAN ANSELMO, CA — The second phase of the Sir Francis Drake Paving Project is scheduled to take place during the night-time hours Monday, Aug. 8 through Friday, Aug. 12, according to Town Manager Debra Stutsman.

"Ghilotti Bros, together with Town staff, has carefully reviewed the project limits, and determined that it is necessary to perform much of the work at night (as was done during Phase I)," Stutsman stated in a newsletter Thursday. "Night work provides increased safety and efficiency for the contractor and the public. We understand that the night-time noise will be an inconvenience for you: The work on SFD will be loud, but we will do everything we can to minimize the duration of the noise."

Ghilotti Bros., Inc. is scheduled to perform work including: re-paving Sir Francis Drake Boulevard from Madrone Avenue to Sais Avenue; fixing potholes on SFD between Sais Avenue and Saunders Avenue for future road sealing; and fixing potholes on SFD between Tunstead Avenue and Center Boulevard for future road sealing.

Residents whose driveway or street access is on SFD between Madrone and Sais will not have access to their driveway/street during the grinding and paving operations. They will receive additional notification 72 hours in advance, and will be given a parking pass so they may park overnight on a nearby street, according to Stutsman.

The Sunny Hills intersection will be partially open, so vehicles will have access to Red Hill shopping center, Shaw Drive and Sunny Hills; but should expect minor delays. Residents of Sais and Calumet avenues will be detoured via Nokomis Avenue and Park Drive, respectively. Residents of Bella Vista will not have access from SFD during night work between Madrone and Sais; however, residents will be able to drive out via the south exit by driving on the concrete bus lane.

Stutsman noted that emergency vehicles will be afforded access, so if residents have an emergency they should dial 911. Also, any residents who have a critical access need should contact Kevin Heuer at 415-720-6081, 415-256-2264 or KevinH@ghilottibros.com this week.

"We thank you for your patience while we complete all work as quickly as safely possible," Stutsman said. "If you feel that your needs are not being met or you have a specific request that the Town could assist you with, please email Rachel Calvert, Senior Civil Engineer at: rcalvert@townofsananselmo.org."
