Police Arrest Robbery, Attempted Sexual Assault Suspect

The suspect was arrested last year for allegedly stealing luxury cars in Washington and in San Rafael.

San Rafael police arrested an armed robbery and attempted sexual assault suspect early Wednesday morning, a police lieutenant said.

Aikeem Lloyd Roberts, 28, a San Rafael transient, allegedly took a man’s laptop computer at gunpoint around 10:15 p.m. Tuesday in the 200 block of Larkspur Street, Lt. Dan Fink said.

Police searched for the suspect but did not locate him, Fink said.

A woman then called police at 12:02 a.m. Wednesday to report an attempted sexual assault in the 400 block of Canal Street. The woman said a man approached her as she got out of her car and insisted on paying her for sex, Fink said.

The victim told the man she was not a prostitute, and the suspect then harassed her, blocked her path and chased her when she ran to her apartment, according to Fink.

The suspect tried to prevent her from closing her apartment door, but the woman managed to close and lock the door, Fink said.

Officers searched the area, located Roberts on Canal Street based on the woman’s description and arrested him on suspicion of attempted sexual assault, as well as the earlier robbery, Fink said.

Roberts was booked into Marin County Jail on $75,000 bail.
