Ramen Restaurant Gets San Rafael Digs

The gluten-free fad is still in its infancy.

Japanese ramen traces its roots back thousands of years to the Han Dynasty period in China.

And in the battle for a small downtown San Rafael parcel, tradition is king.

A new restaurant featuring the deliciously slippery Japanese comfort food will apparently move into the space where a gluten free grocer went belly-up.

Uchiwa Ramen, LLC, has posted a public notice of application to sell alcoholic beverages at the 821 B Street space where gluten-free grocer Sans operated.

Whatever you think of the gluten-free phenomenon (for the record, it’s been widely discredited for all but one percent of the population by mainstream science), Sans had a loyal following with a 4.5-star average Yelp rating.
