The San Anselmo Arts Commission is proud to sponsor the paintings of Stacey Kamp at Lincoln Park Wine Bar. Pieces are priced from $350 to $1500 and the show will continue through till the 14th of July. A “meet the artist” reception will take place on June 19th from 5pm till 10pm with 10% of the nights proceeds being donated to the San Anselmo Arts Commission.
Born and raised in the bay area, Stacey Kamp has always been immersed in the arts. Her artist grandmother Eva Kamp, predominantly a potter, imparted her skills in painting, photography, and pottery, encouraging all creative endeavors. Upon her passing in 1982, Stacey was inspired to carry on her very special artistic legacy, and continues to do so through her expressive oil paintings using only a palette knife and rags to manifest her imagination onto the canvas.
Inspired by photographer Cindy Sherman, Stacey has embraced the concept of altering techniques but not theme. Her current theme is Birch trees, broken up in to polyptych panels of various sizes. Stacey comments. “I chose the theme of Birch trees based on being fascinated by the bark. I had a Birch tree in my yard as a kid and remember pulling back the translucent skin of the bark as it shed off. As an adult I loved the fact that birch trees grow in groups, although at my house there was only one.” More of Stacey’s work can be viewed at http://staceykamp.com/
