San Anselmo, Fairfax Residents Must Get Property Taxes in Soon: County

The following is an announcement from the County of Marin:

SAN RAFAEL, CA – Monday, April 11 is the last day residents all around California can pay the second installment of the 2015-2016 property tax bill without penalty. Taxpayers are encouraged to pay early and avoid penalties.

Payments sent by mail must be postmarked by the U.S. Postal Service on or before April 11. For Marin County residents, a payment drop box will be available under the Marin County Civic Center’s southern archway on April 8 and April 11, from 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Taxpayers are encouraged to use the drop box, pay online, by phone or by mail due to limited parking space at the Civic Center.

The Marin County Tax Collector’s Office, a division of the County Department of Finance<http://www.marincounty.org/depts/df>, mailed 91,967 tax bills on Sept. 30, 2015. Property owners who have not received a tax bill, especially those who have recently purchased real estate, should contact the Tax Collector’s Office as soon as possible.

Parcel tax exemption information, including exemptions for seniors, is available at www.marincounty.org/propertytaxexemptions<http://www.marincounty.org/propertytaxexemptions>. Eligibility for parcel tax exemptions is administered and determined by each taxing district.

Tax payments can be made online at www.marincounty.org/taxbillonline<http://www.marincounty.org/paytax> or paid by phone at (800) 985-7277. Taxpayers can call the Tax Collector at (415) 473-6133for billing information and general customer service.

The Tax Collector’s Office hours are 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays with an extension to 5 p.m. on April 11. The Tax Collector’s Office is located in Room 202 of the Marin County Civic Center, 3501 Civic Center Drive in San Rafael.
