San Anselmo Home Burglary Suspect Arrested

SAN ANSELMO, CA – A woman who was interrupted while burglarizing a San Anselmo home Friday is now in custody, police said Saturday.

Kristen Leigh Duffy, 31, of Venice, Calif., was arrested and booked into Marin County Jail on suspicion of burglary Friday, with bail set at $50,000, according to police.

The case began around 6:30 p.m. Friday when a resident of a home on Butterfield Road called police to say she had just returned home and found a woman in her living room with a bag of property, police said.

The victim confronted the suspect, who dropped the bag and fled, running down Butterfield Road toward Sir Francis Drake Boulevard, according to police.

Officers searched the area and found the suspect as she tried to duck away onto the porch of a home on Cordone Drive, police said.

Duffy told officers she was visiting Marin and the address on Cordone Drive was an Airbnb where she was staying, according to police. When they contacted the homeowner, she said this was not the case.
