See Smoke? Marin County Firefighters Working on Controlled Burn

BREAKING: Residents may see or smell smoke in the North Bay during the day Thursday.

MARIN COUNTY, CA – If you see or smell smoke in northern San Rafael or southern Novato on Thursday, chances are it's nothing to be concerned about, according to the Marin County Fire Department.

Firefighters from the Marin County Fire Department are preparing for a controlled burn Thursday morning near Big Rock, according to a post on Nextdoor. The controlled burn, which will help reduce the amount fuel in the area, will be located near 3301 Lucas Valley Road, west of Lucas Valley subdivisions and Marinwood.

In an effort to help reduce 911 calls about the controlled burn to dispatchers, fire officials are giving notice and also reminding residents about Marin County Fire Department’s debris reduction program that helps eliminate wildfire fuels.
