Songwriter Steve Taylor-Ramirez plays "Picnic on the Plaza" at San Anselmo Town Hall Sept. 4
Berkeley singer-songwriter brings his folk, Latin & blues to downtown San Anselmo, featuring the Celtic fiddle of Lee White
Berkeley-based singer-songwriter-guitarist Steve Taylor-Ramírez brings his critically acclaimed original music to the “Picnics on the Plaza” concert series at San Anselmo Town Hall (525 San Anselmo Ave.) on Friday, Sept. 4, from 5-8 pm. Accompanying him on violin will be the talented Lee White, of Boulder Creek, CA.
Named a “Critic’s Choice” by the East Bay Express, Bay Area News Group and UC Berkeley, Taylor-Ramírez plays a mix of folk, Latin and blues that listeners say cross the usual musical boundaries. His music has aired on many Bay Area radio stations, and he appeared live on NPR’s KALW, as well as Pirate Cat Radio. A reviewer at the Easy Bay Express said that Taylor-Ramírez is widely known for his “fancy finger picking, weathered vocals…charisma…[and] socially conscious originals.” That should come as no surprise, as his great grandfather, Ignacio Ramírez, served as an education official for Mexico’s reformist President Francisco I. Madero.

Lee White has played violin since the age of 6. She focuses on Celtic fiddle, but has years of experience in blues and folk improvisation, as well as jazz and swing. White has toured internationally, and played popular Bay Area venues such as The Freight & Salvage Coffeehouse, La Pena Cultural Center, Down Home Music, Berkeley’s Art House Gallery and more. You can view a video of White in concert at The Freight here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9LbtWeRNqlY.
The San Anselmo Arts Commission offers an exciting series of free concerts in the parks this year, with genres ranging from Motown to Americana.
