Flood Zone 9 is integrally involved in administering the city's flood mitigation program financed by the flood fee.

San Anselmo is in Flood Zone 9 of the Marin County Flood Control and Water Conservation District. The District was formed in 1955 by an Act of the State Legislature. The Board of Supervisors sits as the elected board of the District and the District is staffed by the Marin County Department of Public Works. The boundaries of the District are contiguous with those of Marin County and eight "zones" have been established to address specific watershed flooding problems. Each zone has an Advisory Board of 5 to 7 residents, who are ultimately appointed by the Board of Supervisors. These advisory boards review zone budgets and master plans and advise the Board of Supervisors on these matters. Councilmember John Wright serves as San Anselmo’s representative to the Flood Zone 9 Advisory Board. Flood Zone 9 is integrally involved in administering our flood mitigation program financed by the flood fee.
