Spirit Fire: 16 Acres Burned, Evacuation Warning Lifted In Marin

MARIN COUNTY, CA — A vegetation fire prompted an evacuation warning in the Woodacre area of unincorporated Marin County Tuesday.

The 16-acre blaze, called the Spirit Fire, sparked on a ridge above the Spirit Rock Meditation Center at 5000 Sir Francis Drake Blvd. in Woodacre, according to the Marin County Fire Department.

Cal Fire, San Rafael Fire and Ross Valley Fire assisted Marin County Fire with air attack crews and tankers.

Authorities issued an evacuation warning "out of an abundance of caution" for the Rancho Santa Margarita East area, according to the Marin County Sheriff's Office. The fire was 60 percent contained around 6:10 p.m., fire officials said, and the warning was lifted.
