Things to Know: Apply for a City Commission Opening

Here are some important things happening around town that everyone should know about for the upcoming week.

1. The city is constantly looking for residents to apply for commission or committee appointments by the City Council when openings appear. Openings on these committees and commissions come up from time to time. The council will set a day and time to interview those people who have turned in an application. 2. The Chamber of Commerce will soon be discussing how to make its Sunday farmers market better for the 2012 season. Contact CEO Jessica Evans at jessica@sanbrunochamber.com to share your ideas. One of the questions the chamber is seeking feedback on is: Which city committees, commissions and boards (or other city departments) would you like to see have an information booth at one or more of the Sunday markets?

3. On Thursday nights, the senior center hosts bingo games. Doors open at 5 p.m. Games begin at 6:45 p.m. It is open to the public, and there are maximum payouts. For more information, call 650-616-7150.

4. The city is now taking applications for its Youth Enhancement Scholarship Program for Recreation Programs and Services. This scholarship fund is designed for youths ages 17 and younger who are San Bruno residents and seeking financial assistance for recreation programs and activities. 5. Signups for the West Bay Rams Pop Warner Football and Cheer and Dance program begin on Saturday, March 3. For more information, call 650-291-3381 or visit www.eteamz.com/westbayrams.

6. Every family should have its own personal emergency escape plan. Check out the attached flier for more information.

7. The city's Citizens Crime Prevention Committee tip for February is attached.

8. The San Mateo County Mosquito & Vector Control District reminds residents that mosquitoes can breed even in February. With the rain that could be clogging roof gutters, these areas could be breeding locations. The district's February tip is attached.
