1. The San Bruno Park School District's kindergarten registration began Jan. 17. Entering students must have been born on or before Nov. 1, 2007. Students born Nov. 2 through Dec. 2, 2007, may enroll in transitional kindergarten. The required documents for both are: an original birth certificate, a current immunization record and two forms proving your address (PG&E, utility bill, phone bill, lease with a canceled check).

2. The city has 10 citizen advisory commissions, boards and committees, whose volunteer members are residents appointed by the City Council. Members meet once a month to discuss such subjects as bicycle and pedestrian safety, crime prevention, community preparedness, culture and arts, the library, planning, personnel, park and recreation, traffic safety and parking, and youth recreation. Vacancies develop throughout the year and applications are always welcome and kept on file. For more information, call 650-616-7058.

3. The city has some aquatics positions open. The San Bruno Park Pool employs cashiers, lifeguards, water safety instructors and pool managers. Lifeguards, water safety instructors and pool managers must have valid lifeguard training certifications issued by the American Red Cross. To become a trained and certified lifeguard, courses begin April 2 and run five days each. These courses, based on the American Red Cross lifeguarding program, will certify students in Lifeguarding, CPR and AED for the Professional Rescuer and first aid. Students must be 15 years of age by the last day of class and pass a swim pre-test—swim 300 yards continuously, retrieve a 10-pound brick from 10 feet and return it to designated spot. For more information, call Jennifer at 650-616-7184.
