MONTHLY EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES IN SAN FRANCISCO

Basic Sales and Use Tax

This is an instructor-led class on how to file online, or file a paper return if online filing is not available or you are exempt from filing electronically. Participants are encouraged to bring their questions and any documentation relating to the upcoming return period. Additionally, instructors will cover: supporting and reporting exempt sales, using a resale certificate, determining what taxable and nontaxable labor is, and maintaining adequate records.

This one-hour session is designed for owners of new businesses. Staff will be available to answer your sales and use tax questions as they relate to your business/industry. These are informal sessions where we will give a brief demonstration of our resources and how to file your taxes online.

Online Filing Clinics These sessions are designed to assist participants in preparing a sales and use tax return. Participants are encouraged to bring in their own sales and use tax return along with any documentation pertaining to that return period.

Dates/Times: Thursday, April 26, 2018 Friday, April 27, 2018 Monday, April 30, 2018 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Drop in assistance program. No registration needed. The Taxpayer Educational Consultation Program (TECP) The Taxpayer Educational Consultation Program (TECP) is designed to provide individualized tax education and assistance to new taxpayers during their first year of business in order to help them meet their sales and use tax reporting requirements now and in the future. To be eligible to participate in the program, taxpayers need to have: (1) business codes that historically had reporting problems, or be included in industries with recent law or regulatory changes; (2) started a new business within the last twelve months; and, (3) filed at least two Sales and Use Tax returns.
