Connie Jackson to be Honored by the League of California Cities

San Bruno City Clerk Carol Bonner provided the following news:

 
"It is my great honor to share with you that our very own San Bruno City Manager, Connie Jackson, will be the recipient of the 2013 League of California Cities Award Honoring a City Manager of Distinction.  She will receive the award on Thursday January 31st 2013 at the League of California Cities Annual City Managers' Department Meeting which will be attended by nearly 500 city managers and local government professionals.
 
Connie is receiving this award in recognition of her contributions and accomplishments during her 34-year career in local government and her outstanding leadership and management of the immediate aftermath of the pipeline explosion, advocacy before the National Transportation Safety Board and the lead role she took during the negotiations with PG&E which resulted in the $50 million trust agreement to rebuild the Crestmoor Neighborhood and the $68.75 million restitution settlement on behalf of the entire San Bruno community.
 
The City Manager's Award of Distinction was established by the League of California Cities-City Managers' Department in order to recognize the values and principals deemed essential to professional conduct.  This award provides an opportunity to recognize an individual's outstanding career service, leadership, ethics, expertise and innovation in the field of City management as observed by their colleagues.  The award is given to recognize those who make a difference to the profession and is not presented on an annual basis but rather, only when appropriate as a means to recognize an outstanding individual.
 
Connie was nominated for this award by her peers through the San Mateo County City Managers Association. Any city manager county association throughout the State may nominate one city manager from their association  for consideration for this award.  A League of California Cities committee, comprised of city managers throughout the state, make the final determination if an applicant has achieved the exacting standards required for recognition.
 
I know Connie is honored and touched to have been nominated and selected for the award; not only as a result of its recognition of her lifelong commitment to her profession, but because she shares this honor and distinction with each of you who performed with such commitment and excellence in the aftermath of the pipeline explosion."
