City: Construction Complete on 20 Homes Affected by San Bruno Fire

Seven of the homes destroyed in the 2010 San Bruno fire have now been completely rebuilt, according to the city.

In addition to the homes that have been brought back to life since the PG&E pipeline explosion, 13 homes that were badly damaged during the blast have been repaired.

The city's website for the rebuilding of the Crestmoor neighborhood, Rebuildcrestmoor.org, gave the update.

In the update, the city released a map showing the progress the neighborhood has made in the 21 months since the explosion devastated the community. In all, 38 homes were destroyed, 17 homes were damaged and eight lives were lost in the disaster. In addition, a number of residents have left the neighborhood for good.

But the recent construction numbers from the city show that residents are determined to get their lives and neighborhood back.

According to the latest update, the following progress has been made as of Wednesday:

• building permits have been issued for 11 of the homes that were destroyed in the fire
• two of the destroyed homes are under building review
• the city is inspecting two other destroyed homes under planning review
• no rebuilding plans have been submitted for 16 homes that were destroyed
• four permits have been issued for homes that were damaged in the fire

The map also shows which lots in the neighborhood are now owned by PG&E and the city.

Also 1650 Claremont Drive and 1660 Claremont Drive, which used to be neighboring homes, have now been merged and the new address will be 1658 Claremont Drive.
