Date With 'Prostitute' Ends in Robbery, Assault, False Imprisonment in San Bruno: Police

Police say they tracked down the woman and arrested her.

SAN BRUNO, CA – A man who had arranged to meet a suspected prostitute in San Bruno over the weekend was robbed, threatened with a weapon and held against his will at a local hotel, police report.

According to San Bruno Police Lt. Troy Fry, the incident happened around 12:30 a.m. Saturday in the 900 block of El Camino Real.

"Officers determined that a subject had been robbed of money after a agreeing to meet a suspected prostitute at a hotel," Fry said in a news release Monday. "The suspect in this case threatened the victim with a knife and held him against his will during the course of the robbery."

The female suspect was later identified as 26-year-old Renette Gasio of San Francisco, according to Fry. She was ultimately arrested and booked into the San Mateo County jail on charges of robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, and false imprisonment, he said.

The man was uninjured in the ordeal, the lieutenant added.
