This inaugural effort, a partnership with the San Mateo County Community College District, is part of the SamTrans board’s Youth Mobility Plan, which seeks to implement programs that improve mobility for students in San Mateo County.

“For many of our students transportation is a barrier to pursuing and continuing their college education,” said Ron Galatolo, Chancellor of the San Mateo County Community College District. “Through this partnership with SamTrans, we are removing the transportation barrier for some of our most vulnerable students and providing them with a positive start of the new academic year.”

The initiative will allow SamTrans to better understand the travel trends of community college students in the service area. The findings will be used to analyze and adapt service to community college campuses as part of the Reimagine SamTrans project, the agency said.
