Advisory: Golden Gate Bridge to CLOSE This Weekend 01/10/15-01/12/15
The Golden Gate Bridge will be closed to vehicle traffic this weekend, beginning Saturday, January 10, 2015 at 12:01 AM and reopening Monday, January 12, 2015 at 4:00 AM.
The closure is necessary to allow bridge personnel to install a “moveable median barrier (MMB)“ along the bridge. The California Highway Patrol will be closing access roads to US-101 beginning at 9:00 PM Friday night, with full closures beginning at the stroke of midnight.
The following closures will be in effect:
Marin County:
- US-101 S/B Rodeo Avenue off-ramp will close at 8:00 AM
- US-101 S/B will close at the Marin City/Sausalito off-ramp.
- All traffic entering/leaving Sausalito must use Bridgeway after midnight.
San Francisco:
- US-101 will close at Marina Boulevard.
- SR-1 (Park Presidio) will close at Lake Street.
Parking Lots / Pedestrian/Bicycle Traffic:
- All Golden Gate Bridge parking lots will close by 8:00 PM Friday, and remain closed throughout the weekend.
- The East Sidewalk will remain open to pedestrian/bicycle traffic.
- At no time will bicycles/pedestrians be permitted on the closed roadways.
Alternative Routes / Transit Options:
- The Bay Bridge and Richmond/San Rafael Bridges will be the alternate route.
- Golden Gate Transit Bus service will be permitted to cross the Golden Gate bridge as construction allows.

Please remember, road closures are in place for maintenance and construction worker safety. Those drivers who ignore the closures and enter into the construction zones will be stopped by the CHP, and may face fines and penalties in excess of $350 as well as a point on the driver’s record. Many construction and maintenance workers will be walking on the bridge during this closure.
