Homicide Cold Case: Who Killed Silicon Valley College Student Maria Hsiao, 21, in 2001?

The Palo Alto Police Department is looking for tips to help solve the unsolved murder of Maria Hsiao, a 21-year-old college student who was shot by an unknown suspect in 2001 outside of a downtown nightclub.

This brand-new video describes what happened, and shows the impact the crime continues to have on Maria’s family and friends, according to Palo Alto police.

“Someone out there knows the truth about what happened that night,” police said when they released the video Friday. “Is it you?”

Police asked the public to share the below video as widely as possible.

“Even someone with second- or third-hand information about what happened may hold the missing piece of the puzzle that helps us to crack this case, solve a mystery, and bring justice for Maria, her family and her friends,” police said.

There is even a $100,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest and conviction in the case, police said.
