Things to Know: Chinese New Year Celebration; Donate a Prom Dress
Donate new or gently worn prom or formal dresses. Also, don't forget to support the many school fundraisers happening around town.
Here are some important things happening around town that everyone should know about for the upcoming week.
Today. 4-5:30 p.m. The Shops at Tanforan will celebrate the Year of the Dragon with a in the East and West galleries. Festivities will begin with arts and crafts activities for children at 4 p.m. inspired by the year of the dragon. At 5 p.m., watch a lion dance, traditional dance performances and more. Before the 5 p.m. show begins, 100 red envelopes stuffed with mall surprises will be distributed. Line up along the East and West galleries to try your luck with winning one of two $50 mall gift cards stuffed in two of the red envelopes.
Today. 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. From today through March 2nd, you can donate and drop off new or gently worn prom dresses, formal gowns and accessories at the mall management office at The Shops at Tanforan. Ideal donations include: long, formal gowns from 2005 to new in excellent condition and in all sizes and colors; accessories such as purses, fancy jewelry, wraps and shawls. Dresses must be clean and hung on hangers. Not acceptable: shoes, make-up, semi-formal or casual clothing, wedding dresses, tuxedos or unclean garments. All items collected will be donated to The Princess Project to help high school girls in need this prom season.
Saturday, Feb 25. 8-11 a.m. Parkside Intermediate School Principal Angela Addiego and Assistant Principal Dan Lyttle invite all families to the school's pancake breakfast. See the new campus while you're at it! The cost is $6 per person and $25 for a family of five. Children under 4 years old are free.

Saturday, Feb 25. 10 a.m-4 p.m. Crestmoor Elementary School will be holding an electronic waste recycling fundraiser.
Sunday, Feb. 26. 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Rollingwood Elementary School will be holding an electronic waste recycling fundraiser for the school and the American Cancer Society.

Thursday, March 1. 3 p.m. Capuchino High School's spring play will be "Winnie the Pooh," which starts March 2. San Bruno residents, however, can see a preview show on March 1. Tickets are $5 for everyone. Additional shows cost $10. For more information about tickets, go here or call 650-558-2748.
Saturday, March 3. 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Auntie Anne's Pretzel Perfect at The Shops at Tanforan is offering shoppers a free original or cinnamon sugar pretzel (no strings attached).

Saturday, March 17. Noon-4 p.m. The Shops at Tanforan will be holding it Children's Activity Fair outside JCPenney. The mall and Parenting on the Peninsula will offer ways to learn about fun, educational and active children's programs. Saturday, March 24. 6-11 p.m. The senior center will be hosting a Lobster Boil Extravaganza, which benefits John Muir Elementary School.
