Local Startup eQuid is Changing Money and Changing the World one customer at a time.

Cold Calling is hard work. No one likes a cold call and I can honestly say that making a cold call is about as appealing as having a tooth pulled with no anesthesia. In the process of promoting my new startup I found myself in the position of having to make some cold calls. Most of the calls I make don’t amount to much. As soon as it is obvious that I am making a sales call it’s like a switch goes off and the listener puts up a wall, stop listening, and start thinking of a polite way to hang up. Some people just hang up and that’s OK, sometimes I do the same thing.

There are of course a few rare and precious people who are kind enough to listen for a few moments to find out what I actually have to offer. Nick Mejia a local Painting contractor in San Mateo is one of those people. Not only did he take the time to talk with me on the phone but he went out of his way to come to my office and find out exactly what eQuid is up to. I’m not sure if I can even describe in words what a pleasure it was to meet with Nick.

He listened intently for almost an hour while I described our vision and how eQuid will use digital currency technology to create good paying jobs and help us put back more than we take. At the end of the talk not only did Nick become our first paying customer but he also became an investor. Not a big investor but the sentiment was very encouraging which goes a long way at a startup.

eQuid is running a campaign right now to sign up local businesses to our network. This is required for our product to work and at the same time it helps us to validate our business model to future investors.
