Loretta Groulx of San Bruno CA

San Bruno has lost a valuable resident.

Article Source: San Bruno CA Mayor Rico E. Medina

San Bruno Mayor Medina closed the City Council meeting of May 22 2018 with the following words:

Loretta Groulx began volunteering at the San Bruno Senior Center over 25 years ago after her husband had passed away and she was looking for something to do to occupy her time. Immediately she became involved in many of the planning committees at the Center, especially the Program and Special Events Committee. She served many years on the Senior Citizens' Advisory Board and volunteered at Bingo for many years. She loved to plan and trips for the seniors and the Reno Snow Train and Branson Missouri trips were among her favorites.

Loretta had a unique ability to get people involved and wanted to enhance other people’s lives. She became involved as the liaison with Jackie Speier and helped organize the “Seniors on the Move” initiative and workshops. She was an advocate for volunteers and tenacious in wanting to help people who didn’t have a voice.

Loretta was severely injured in the PG&E explosion and lost her home, which she rebuilt. Once she was recovered, and despite a stroke, she returned to the senior center to continue volunteering with the day-time bingo.

She had an incredibly positive attitude, was always smiling, empathetic, fun-loving and even silly and loved to have fun. She was loved by many and will be missed.
