Man With Shotgun Stopped In San Bruno By Area Residents: Cops

Police said the man was making threats at a group of people while holding the gun.

SAN BRUNO, CA — San Bruno police early New Year's Day morning arrested a man who allegedly brandished a gun in public and made threats, police said.

At 4:07 a.m., officers responded to Atlantic Avenue on a report of a man armed with a shotgun and walking in the street. Another person called to report that the man was threatening a group of people with the gun, police said.

Officers arrived and found that two people had taken the shotgun from the suspect and detained him, police said.

The suspect was identified as 53-year-old Sosefo Satalani Takapu of San Bruno. He was arrested and booked into the San Mateo County Jail on suspicion of brandishing a firearm, possessing a short barrel shotgun and making criminal threats, police said.
