Man Threatening To Jump From San Bruno Rooftop Secured By Police, Fire
Police say the suicidal subject "...continually made statements that people were chasing him and that he intended to jump off the roof..."

SAN BRUNO, CA β San Bruno police and fire crews were able to stop a man from jumping off a local rooftop and potentially harming himself over the weekend, police announced. The unidentified man was then taken to a hospital to undergo a mental health evaluation.
According to San Bruno Police Lt. Ryan Johansen, it all started around 8:47 a.m. Sunday, when authorities got word of a man yelling from a rooftop in the 500 block of Mastic Avenue.
"The subject yelled to officers that individuals were chasing him," Johansen said in a news release. "Officers quickly engaged the 52-year-old male South San Francisco resident in conversation from the ground while additional officers made their way to the rooftop of the three story apartment building to contact the subject."

Though the unidentified man continued to say that people were after him and he needed to jump to escape, police say they were able speak with him and "secure the subject on the roof resolving this incident safely."
Firefighters arrived and helped lower the man down from the roof, using a ladder truck to hoist him down, Johansen said.
