Following the “Groundbreaking’ ceremony at Earl Glenview Park with greetings and comments by our Community Services Director Kerry Burns, followed by remarks by Mayor Jim Ruane, a shovel ceremony took place with several dignitaries turning over soil symbolic of the commencement of the park construction.
California State Senator, Jerry Hill, Mayor Jim Ruane, Vice Mayor Ken Ibarra, Councilman Rico Medina, Parks and Recreation Commission Chairman Michael Palmer, were some of those taking part in the ceremony.
Citizens from the Crestmoor 2 neighborhood were in attendance including many City of San Bruno employees, County Supervisors, and the majority of Members of the Park and Recreation Commission. Following the ceremony, refreshments were served and small group discussions and community “Outreach” took place.
Regarding other business and part of a recently initiated program by the Commission, Park Tours have been taking place by the Commissioners.
Following the Groundbreaking event, Commissioners Alex Melendrez and David Nigel joined City Councilman Marty Medina on a Park Tour of the Monte Verde Park and Soccer Field. The three spent about one hour visiting and observing the park amenities and the conditions.
A comprehensive report will be presented by Alex and David during the January 17th, 2018 Commission meeting. In addition to their observations using a guidelines chart created by Commissioner Lorry Greenberg, photos were taken.
