Accomplishment: After anxiously waiting for the city's for an entire week, Brandon not only completed the 25-yard swim, mile-long bike ride and three-quarter-mile run, but he also came out a winner.

“The feeling of winning was nice, but more importantly I completed it,” Brandon said. “It was quite the rush.”

Before the race began, Brandon’s father Anson Fong took him around the course of the race to give him an idea of the layout and where the transitions would be. After the race, he still had a baseball game with the Junior Giants.

Among Brandon’s other accomplishments are scoring 93 in bowling with no bumpers, rock climbing over 400 feet, biking 30 miles of road so far without training wheels, traveling more than 50,000 miles with his family and taking over 2,000 photos to this date.

“My photo skills had inspired others to handover their camera to me to take photos for them,” Brandon said. “They choose me over my father.”

Brandon will also be attending his third year of Cantonese school this fall.

Motivation: Brandon’s motivation comes from his parents, teachers, friends, baseball and traveling.

“We try to expose Brandon in as many different ways as we can, but keeping the core values such as confidence, etiquette, respect, patience, integrity and team work are critical for us to instill,” Anson Fong said. “To allow Brandon to see the world from a fresh perspective, we like to travel with them so he can experience other culture, food and environment that he may not be accustomed to.”

Fong has his son keep a journal of events when they travel, logging events, activities and points of interest, and documenting them with either drawings or photographs.

“I love my parents and appreciate all that they have done for me,” Brandon said.

Key to Awesomeness: “Brandon has a passion to excel when he is motivated,” Anson Fong said. “He is always willing to help a family member, teacher or friend out, when the opportunity arises.”

Brandon’s hobbies include sports—especially baseball—photography, video games, traveling and spending time with his family.
