San Bruno CA: Marty Medina - Vote NO on N

San Bruno CA: Marty Medina - Vote NO on N Because

Marty Medina Offers These Comments on San Bruno Measure N:

“When I first saw the lovely pictures of what our neglected downtown would look like I was impressed. Instead of the vacant storefronts, shriveling-crooked trees in pots, and homeless sleeping in doorways, there was a beautiful bustling downtown.

The council members repeatedly stated Measure N’s height increase was absolutely necessary because developers wouldn’t rebuild in San Bruno. However last week, October 28th, 2014, the City Council approved plans for an 83 units with nearly 7,000 square feet of commercial space. This development didn’t need Measure N; neither does San Bruno.

Normally this project would require nearly 200 parking spaces. Instead a parking exception was granted along with revisions to the Municipal Code and Transit Corridor Plan. Only 106 parking spaces were required with no parking provided for the new workers and customers. The City’s parking study detailed the nearby streets were near 100% occupancy. I asked the Council to prove that San Bruno really is the “City with a Heart”. I requested a “Win-Win” solution by implementing permitted parking program. But they showed they only care about the developer’s interests. No Heart… All GREED!

For the record, I am in favor of consciously-minded development, and Measure N tries to do too much at the expense of the neighboring communities. It values developer’s profits and tax revenues instead of the current residents’ lives. For those of you that will vote tomorrow please consider the impacts to your neighbors. Show you have a heart. Vote no on Measure N.
