San Bruno CA: Council Candidate Marty Medina Addresses Council
The following is Mr. Medina's comments delivered before the San Bruno CA Council Sept 22 2015.

“During the Public Comment period a number of residents and members of Local Union 2 expressed their opinions regarding San Bruno’s $3.896 million dollars of financial assistance.
The following is an outline of Marty Medina’s comments from the San Bruno City Council Meeting.
Good evening honorable mayor and council, staff, and friends.
I am running for San Bruno City Council. This election is not about the hotel. I would love to have a new hotel, but not one subsidized by us residents. We also have to be sensitive to the community’s work force and help whenever we can to assure fair livable wages for all workers.
I have asked for the report justifying the $3.896 million dollars of financial assistance, and I understand it is in draft form. Furthermore, I believe the property is worth more than $1.4 million. The old theatre site sold for $10.6 million and was an acre. The hotel site is over 1.5 acres.
San Bruno is facing a bigger issue... how will it rebuild it’s infrastructure? Our streets, sewers, water, and internet systems, City buildings... Our pool needs to be rebuilt, we need a new library/community center. I worked for you for over ten years as a San Bruno Public Works Inspector. I have been in the trenches and have seen how our city operates. It is time for someone with construction knowledge and hands-on experience to help rebuild our city. I want to bring new ideas and energy to efficiently rebuild our infrastructure and stop relying on unsustainable rate increases.
The other candidates have been in office since 2009 and 1995. They had their chance to manage the costs and maintain the infrastructure. As a result our water rates are the second highest in the area. Furthermore, the City Council has approved to increase rates another twenty percent in the next two years. Lastly, our streets are ranked near the bottom. I know we can do better.

Please tune in to the League of Women Voters City Council Candidate Debate on October 5th, 7pm, at the Senior Center. You can submit your questions there or on San Bruno Patch. Thank you.”
