San Bruno CA: San Bruno Force - Sportsmanship Award

The San Bruno Force – an under 19 Girls team representing San Bruno AYSO Region 249 – were recognized at the September 23, 2014 San Bruno City Council meeting for their accomplishment at this year’s American Youth Soccer Organizations National Games in Torrance California where they received the Michael Michalski Sportsmanship Trophy. Good Sportsmanship is one of the six philosophies that are an essential part of the Vision and Mission Statement for the American Youth Soccer Organization now celebrating its 50th year as a youth sports program.

Both coaches and players went to this tournament with the hope of winning the coveted 1st place Championship game; that did not happen. But they also went to have fun while honoring the game of soccer and their opponents which is where they excelled and were recognized as being #1.

The parents and families that supported the girls and traveled with them to the tournament also deserve recognition for their positive support during the entire tournament – from Opening Ceremonies to the final game.

Thank you coaches, players, parents and San Bruno for this honor!
