San Bruno is “the City with a Heart”. Located in San Mateo County, San Bruno is twelve miles south of San Francisco and adjacent to the San Francisco International Airport. THE POSITION
An exciting future awaits San Bruno Cable. The Director of Cable will manage a staff of 20 employees and lead the department through the next generation of broadband innovation. San Bruno Cable recently completed a Fiber to the Home (FTTH) Project to 1,200 residential units, and has embarked on a second FTTH project involving another 1,300 residential units. With these deployments and possible future ones, the Director will oversee a rebranding campaign complete with name change, new logos and a robust new marketing effort to promote itself. Future projects include an IP delivered video product, system rebuild, and serving commercial services include businesses in town such as Google, Provident Funding, and Berkshire Hathaway, to name a few.
As a key member of the City Manager’s executive team, the Cable Director will also be responsible for managing an annual budget of approximately $11 million, much of which comes from the revenue-generating streams of the Cable Department.
SAN BRUNO CABLE
San Bruno Cable is only one of two cities in the Bay Are to operate its own unique, municipally-owned cable system. Since its inception in 1971, San Bruno Cable has maintained its mission to deliver value-oriented broadband services including television, internet, and telephone to the surrounding community. Serving just under 8,000 residential homes and businesses, the all-digital cable network spans over 100 miles of fiber and coaxial cable to deliver a full suite of broadband video, data, and voice services, to its residents and businesses. Customers also connected to the San Bruno community with regular access to City meetings, events, and festivities streaming into their homes and businesses.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Any combination of experience and training that would provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and abilities would be:
· Five years of responsible work within the Cable Television industry, three (3) years of which have been in a supervisory/management capacity
· Graduation from an accredited university with a bachelor’s degree
· Possession of a valid California driver’s license

The new Director of Cable will have a strong and proven track record in managing a large cable operation, with the ability to take a fresh look at the operations, philosophy, and direction of San Bruno Cable Television’s future. The City is seeking a forward-thinking, entrepreneurial, experienced lead who has the vision to lead the organization toward its present and future potential. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to working as a member of an executive team, partnering with other city departments, and serving the diverse community of residents and businesses in a diverse community.
