San Bruno Man Accused of Shooting Girlfriend, Arrested
BREAKING: Police say they've arrested a man on assault charges in the case.

BELMONT, CA β A Peninsula man is accused of shooting his girlfriend at her Belmont apartment over the weekend, police said Monday.
According to Belmont Police Capt. Patrick Halleran, officials were called to the 1100 block of Elmer Street on Sunday afternoon after a 19-year-old woman was shot.
After questioning the woman's boyfriend, police ultimately arrested him on charges of assault with a deadly weapon and domestic violence, according to Halleran. He's since been identified as 21-year-old Jorge Eduardo Valiente of San Bruno.

"A semi-automatic pistol and other evidence related to the incident were recovered inside the apartment," Halleran said, adding that there are no other suspects sought in the case.
The woman was hospitalized with injuries not considered to be life-threatening, the captain said.

Elmer Street between Ralston Avenue and Waltermire Street was closed part of Sunday while officers investigated and canvassed the area for possible witnesses and or video surveillance footage.
