BELMONT, CA — A suspected burglar from San Bruno who targeted a Belmont home in early March has been caught and arrested thanks to the public's help with providing surveillance footage, police report.
The burglary happened on March 6 at a home in the 4100 block of Marsten Avenue, according to Belmont Police Capt. Patrick Halleran. Police were alerted to the alleged crime by a home's alarm system.
"The suspect had apparently fled when the alarm was activated and was not located," Halleran said in a news release. "Follow-up investigation by BPD Detectives found that home security cameras in the neighborhood had captured images of the suspect, an adult African American male, wearing a gray hoodie, dark baseball cap, dark pants and dark shoes and his vehicle a silver 2005 Infinity sedan."

"Redwood was subsequently taken into custody without incident, by Belmont PD Detectives, with the assistance of San Bruno Officers," Halleran said.
The suspect was taken to the Redwood City jail and booked on a charge of residential burglary, Halleran said.
"Belmont PD would like to thank all the residents of the neighborhood who provided information and security video, which directly led to the identification and subsequent arrest of this burglar," he said. "This case highlights the value of alarm systems, home security cameras and close neighborhood/police cooperation."
