San Bruno Police Recruiting for Explorer Program

Students between the ages of 14 and 21 are encouraged to apply.

SAN BRUNO, CA β€” The San Bruno Police Department is actively recruiting volunteers to serve our community as Explorers. Police Explorers are valued members of the San Bruno Police Department. Explorers are unpaid volunteers who support and assist the Department in various ways.

San Bruno Police Explorers (Post #559) offers an opportunity for students between the ages of fourteen and 21 years of age old to become involved in a rewarding and productive public safety and community service activity. Being an Explorer helps prepare young people for future roles as good citizens and contributing community members. We strive to prepare young people interested in law enforcement service as a profession in attaining their future career goals.

No experience is necessary to join, aside from the desire and will to learn about a career in law enforcement. Students must attend an Explorer Academy where students learn numerous law enforcement techniques such as finfgerprinting, investigations, search and rescue, and first aid. Explorer applicants must be enrolled in high school or college; maintain a 2.0 Grade Point Average; be willing and able to volunteer time to the Police Department on a monthly basis; have parental consent if under the age of eighteen; be free of criminal convictions and pass a basic background investigation.
