Caltrain is working with the city of San Mateo to replace the bridges at Tilton, Monte Diablo, Santa Inez and Poplar avenues. The bridges are over 100 years old, and must be replaced to meet current local, state and federal seismic safety standards.
The $38 million project will begin this fall and will last approximately two years. The project is being paid for by a combination of local, state and federal funds.
Residents can find out more information about the bridge replacement plan by visiting the project website here. They can also email smbridges@caltrain.com, or call the Construction Outreach Hotline at 650-508-7726.
